Round Things Roll

Age: Infant, Toddlerball1

Equipment: Ball

Space requirements: Small space

Activity description:

  • With your child, sit on the floor facing each other with both of your legs apart in a “V” shape.
  • Roll a ball back and forth to each other, trying to keep it in between your legs and on the ground.

Skill development:

  • Physical skills: rolling an object; stopping an object; eye-hand coordination
  • Non-physical skills: self-discovery; critical thinking

Adjust the challenge:

  • Start with a larger ball that is easier to roll and catch.
  • Progress to a smaller ball that requires more coordination to roll and catch.
